Tacha Criticizes Jehovah’s Witness Member Over Refusal of Cancer Treatment

Reality TV star Tacha has sparked debate after commenting on the health situation of X (formerly Twitter) personality Omolola Mensah, also known as Aunty Esther, who recently declined a life-saving blood transfusion.

Omolola, a devoted member of a well-known church, was diagnosed with breast cancer that had spread to her armpit. Doctors recommended chemotherapy, which typically requires blood transfusions to maintain healthy blood levels. However, her church forbids the procedure, equating it to the consumption of blood.

A fundraiser led by media figure Wisdom Obi-Dickson raised N30,776,252 for her treatment, including a notable N5 million contribution from Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen. Despite the funds and widespread support, Omolola reportedly refused the transfusion, citing her religious beliefs. Obi-Dickson stepped down from coordinating the fundraiser, citing challenges such as threats of disfellowship from her church and her family’s view that the outcome was “God’s will.” He also alleged that Omolola instructed a caregiver to lie about her decision, calling her “not a good or honest person.”

Responding to the situation, Tacha suggested that individuals who do not wish to continue living should be allowed to make that choice. She criticized attempts to intervene as “pure madness” and called out what she perceived as Omolola’s lack of empathy.

Tacha wrote:
“Honestly yall, If somebody wants to diie, i don’t see the argument, you people should allow the person die. I don’t see reasons trying to save someone who doesn’t want to be saved..This isn’t about religious belief it’s just pure madness.”

She also highlighted Omolola’s behavior on social media:
“And let’s be for real, I’m not surprised about Aunty Esther’s situation.. She has consistently shown recklessness and a lack of care over the years, even when there’s a serious issue or a family mourning on Twitter, she’ll be there advertising her business with no empathy. But of course, she’s ‘Twitters Favorite’ so yall have always giving her a clear pass. Big hypocrites.”

Tacha questioned the contradiction between religious adherence and the refusal of treatment:
“Isn’t it funny, how your religion allows you to ‘lie’ listen! If you can lie, you can steal and cheat. Your religion permits all that, but won’t allow a blood transfusion to save your OWN life??”

She concluded by suggesting that the money raised could be redirected to help others who want treatment:
“That 30 million Naira raised can save 50-100 lives in today’s Nigeria! Just channel the funds to people who want to live, and let those who want to diie do so in peace.”

Tacha’s comments have reignited discussions online about the tension between respecting religious beliefs and prioritizing life-saving medical care, with opinions sharply divided.
