Itele and Omowunmi Yekini
Nollywood actor Ibrahim Yekini, a.k.a Itele, has come out to celebrate his wife, Omowunmi Yekini, as she marks her birthday today. He recently flaunted beautiful photos of his woman on his Instagram page, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, he can only appreciate his wife for constantly standing by him and believing in him even when things weren’t looking good for them.
Stressing that Omowunmi is his prayer warrior, Itele noted that she saw the struggles before the shine and believed in the vision before the victory.
His words, “Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife.
@beauty_by_icon
Today, I celebrate not just your birth, but the blessing you are to my life.
You are my strength when I am tired, my peace when I am under pressure, and my joy when the world feels heavy.
Thank you for standing with me, believing in me, and building life with me.
You are more than my partner — you are my safe place, and my home.
You are my prayer warrior… who speaks life over me when I am silent, who understands the weight I carry without me saying a word.
You are the one closest to me who knows there was fire before the gold.
You saw the struggles before the shine.
You believed in the vision before the victory.
And you never left.
Your love is not just beautiful — it is powerful.
Your heart is not just soft — it is strong.
May this new year bring you happiness that matches your purity, success that reflects your sacrifices, and love that returns to you in abundance everything you have poured into me and our family.
I am proud to call you mine.
I am blessed to walk this life with you.
Happy Birthday, Omowunmi Aminat
My queen.”
WOW.
Nollywood is a sobriquet that originally referred to the Nigerian film industry. The origin of the term dates back to the early 2000s, traced to an article in The New York Times. Due to the history of evolving meanings and contexts, there is no clear or agreed-upon definition for the term, which has made it a subject to several controversies.
The origin of the term “Nollywood” remains unclear; Jonathan Haynes traced the earliest usage of the word to a 2002 article by Matt Steinglass in the New York Times, where it was used to describe Nigerian cinema.
Charles Igwe noted that Norimitsu Onishi also used the name in a September 2002 article he wrote for the New York Times. The term continues to be used in the media to refer to the Nigerian film industry, with its definition later assumed to be a portmanteau of the words “Nigeria” and “Hollywood”, the American major film hub.
Film-making in Nigeria is divided largely along regional, and marginally ethnic and religious lines. Thus, there are distinct film industries – each seeking to portray the concern of the particular section and ethnicity it represents. However, there is the English-language film industry which is a melting pot for filmmaking and filmmakers from most of the regional industries.
