Abba Kyari’s Death Should Teach Nigerians To Take Coronavirus Seriously – Issa Aremu

Organized Labor in Nigeria has come out to say that Abba Kyari‘s death confirmed President Buhari’s numerous statements that coronavirus is not a joke.

In a recent statement by the ex General Secretary of Textile Union and Vice President, Industrial Global Union, Comrade Issa Aremu described the deceased as a patriotic Nigerian.

According to Issa, Kyari will forever be remembered for his support to Buhari’s government in its diversification and Industrialization.

He added that Nigerians should keep adhering to the guidelines of NCDC on physical distancing, personal and workplace hygiene amid the coronavirus outbreak.

His words, “The late Chief of Staff was pivotal to the historic Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contract (PSC) Amendment Bill signed into law by President Buhari in November 2019.”

“Abba Kyari‘s death confirms President Buhari’s admonition that COVID-19 remains ‘a life and death issue’, and not a joke”.

“Nigerians should adhere to the guidelines of NCDC on physical distancing, personal and workplace hygiene.”

Abba Kyari OON (17 November 1938 – 17 April 2020) was a Nigerian politician who served as Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.

A Kanuri from Borno, not much is known about his early life. In 1980, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Warwick, and also received a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Cambridge. In 1983, he was called to the Nigerian Bar after attending the Nigerian Law School.

Kyari was married to the sister-in-law of Ibrahim Tahir, and had four children.

On March 24, 2020, it was made public that Kyari tested positive for COVID-19 on March 23, following an official trip to Germany nine days before.
