The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has vowed to ensure meaningful participation of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across Nigeria. The coalition party recently pledged to strengthen disability-inclusive governance, and Nigerians have been reacting.
Speaking in Abuja as the ADC joined the global community to commemorate the International Day for Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), the National Chairman of the party, Sen. David Mark, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to disability inclusion if given the opportunity to rule.
According to him, the pledge is backed by concrete action rather than rhetoric because PWDs are fully represented across the party’s leadership structure and they contribute meaningfully at all levels.
“From the National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Working Committee (NWC) to state, zonal, local government, ward and polling unit levels, they are fully represented.
Their voices and perspectives continue to shape our policies and strengthen our mission of building a more equitable Nigeria,” he said.
Mark further noted that the coalition party remains a movement for inclusive democracy, and it’ll keep advocating for equal opportunity, dignity and representation for all Nigerians.
He concluded by saying that ability should always be measured by character and competence, not physical condition.
