The Federal Government has ordered civil servants based at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja to work remotely on Friday, March 27, 2026. This comes ahead of preparation for the national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Nigerians have been reacting.
According to an official circular signed by Abdul Garba, Permanent Secretary of the Service Welfare Office, several access routes around the Federal Secretariat Complex—covering Phases I, II and III—will be shut from Friday, March 27, through Saturday, March 28, 2026, due to the event.
Garba added that the road closures are necessary because of activities scheduled at Eagle Square, the venue for the APC gathering.
It read, “This is due to the use of Eagle Square for the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Party on the said dates.
Accordingly, all personnel whose offices are located within Phases I, II and III of the Federal Secretariat Complex as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are to work from home on Friday, 27th March, 2026.
All concerned Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Agencies are kindly requested to bring the content of this Circular to the attention of their staff, and ensure strict compliance.”
