BBNaija’s Sammie
Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Samuel Jacob, popularly known as Sammie, has opened up about his battles with depression and financial difficulties following his exit from the reality TV show.
In an emotional Instagram video, Sammie revealed that adjusting to life after the show was far more challenging than fans might assume, leading to repeated bouts of depression.
“A year after the show, I lost count of how many times I felt depressed. I would sit alone in my house in Lekki and just cry. A grown man like me with beards, crying and asking God why. Some days I’d thank Him, other days I’d just break down,” he said.
The reality star admitted that financial instability made coping even harder, often leaving him with more debit alerts than credits in his account.
“There was barely money coming in, but I still had a life to maintain. It messed with my head,” Sammie confessed.
He explained that quitting university to participate in Big Brother Naija disrupted his long-term plans and left him uncertain about his future.
“I was in Lagos, trying to live up to the ‘star boy’ tag, but there was no real income,” he recalled.
Sammie also reflected on moments of isolation as he watched peers seemingly thrive while he struggled in silence.
“You’d see young guys pulling up in their G-Wagons while I will now chop my indomie, wear my fine shirt nobody will know what I’m going through,” he added.
Through his candid testimony, Sammie sheds light on the often-hidden challenges reality TV stars face behind the public image of fame and success.
