Nigerian singer Bigiano has claimed authorship of a key part of Davido’s early hit record Dami Duro, saying he wrote the song’s hook.
The Shayo crooner made the revelation during a recent interview with content creator Akin Abolade, where he spoke about his contributions to the track that helped launch Davido into mainstream success.
“I wrote Dami Duro for Davido. I wrote the hook,” Bigiano stated.
Addressing questions about his long absence from the spotlight, the singer explained that stepping away from the industry was a deliberate decision aimed at making a stronger comeback.
“Sometimes, you have to take a break to be able to come back again. I went on a sabbatical to make my return to music massive,” he said.
Bigiano also dismissed rumours suggesting he was facing financial difficulties, insisting that he remains financially stable. “I can’t be broke,” he stressed.
Released in 2011, Dami Duro is widely regarded as the song that propelled Davido to national and international fame and has since been celebrated as one of the most iconic Afrobeats records of its era.
However, despite Bigiano’s assertion, his name does not appear in the official songwriting credits for the track, and Davido has not publicly responded to the claim.
