Boko Haram Has Not Blocked Any Part Of The Maiduguri-Damaturu Road ― Col Sagir Musa

The Nigerian Army has told motorists using the Maiduguri-Damaturu road to ignore false rumours that Boko Haram blocked a section of the road because it is far from the truth.

Reacting recently, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col Sagir Musa said there are no blockages on the Maiduguri-Damaturu road and it is free for everyone to use.

According to him, soldiers are even present for the safety of Nigerians.

He added that the road is in good and safe condition for the citizens.

His words, “Soldiers are on the road ensuring that Nigerians move safely. You saw the situation of the road on Friday. Nothing like that happened on that road”.

Col Sagir Musa was born in Batsari LGA in Katsina State on 25 October 1967. He was a member of the defunct Nigerian National Guard (NNG) Course 1, commissioned as a Second Lieutenant at the Nigerian Defence Academy on the 4th day of January 1993. With the disbandment of NNG, Sagir (along with his course mates) was reabsorbed into the Nigerian Army (NA) as a DR Officer on 4th January 93. Immediately he was commissioned into the NA, Col Sagir Musa was posted to the Directorate of Army Public Relations.

The senior officer has attended the following courses of international recognition among others; Strategic Communication Course at NASPRI Bonny Camp Lagos, Public Information Course at National Institute of Public Information, Kaduna, Media engagement in crisis situation at the Centre for Crisis Management Abuja, Crisis Management and Planning at the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Lagos, Online Communication Technology: A means to maximize Public Relations Goals at the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Lagos, Enhancing the capacity of APROs in handling current security challenges, 1 Div workshop Kaduna, Bridging the communication gap between the NA and the media, DAPR workshop, 82 Div Enugu, Leveraging new media towards combating security challenges, DAPR workshop NDA Kaduna, Promoting accuracy in reporting military affairs, DAPR workshop, Scorpion Mess Abuja and Inter agency workshop on Civilian protection policy and practice during operations, Centre for Crisis Communication, NAF Offrs Mess Abuja to mention but a few.

Col Sagir has attended the following schools and obtained the under listed qualifications; Govt Sec Sch Batsari from 1979 to 1984 where he obtained his WAEC O’ Level result. He later proceeded to College of Advance Studies Zaria for his IJMB A’ Level certificate in 1986. It is worthy of note that Col Sagir attended the prestigious Bayero University Kano where he obtained bachelor of science degree in political science in 1989.
