Buhari Must Declare State Of Emergency On Our Security Sector – House of Reps

The House of Representatives has reached out to the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on Nigeria’s security sector.

Their cry followed a motion of Urgent Public Importance moved by the Chief Whip of the house, Rep. Mohammed Monguno, during a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila.

According to Mohammed, road users on the Damaturu-Maiduguri road are now forced to suspend their journeys once it was 6 p.m due to security problems in the northeast.

He added that these commuters are continuously getting exposed to the dangers of being murdered and kidnapped when they ply this road because of the non-existence of the military.

His words, “Auno village is one of the spots where the Nigeria Army forces instruct the commuters on the Damaturu-Maiduguri road to spend the night before proceeding their journeys the next morning.

“On Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020, while commuters in their hundreds were waiting in the Auno village, the military men left them to their faith or at best abandoned them,”

“The occupants of two Hummer Buses and one Sharon Bus were kidnapped, 18 vehicles bumt and 30 people killed, including an infant.”

“The non-existence of a super Military camp on the Damanturu-Maiduguri road was exposing commuters to dangers of being killed, maimed or kidnapped.”

Muhammadu Buhari GCFR (born 17 December 1942) is a Nigerian politician currently serving as the President of Nigeria, in office since 2015. Muhammadu Buhari was born to a Fulani family on 17 December 1942, in Daura, Katsina State, to his father Hardo Adamu, a Fulani chief, and mother Zulaihat. He is the twenty-third child of his father. Buhari was raised by his mother, after his father died when he was about four years old.
