The National leadership of Labour Party (LP) has come out to say that President Muhammadu Buhari must use the Sept. 19, governorship polls in Edo State as a template for his government’s electoral reform agenda.

The National Secretary of the party, Mr. Julius Abure revealed this at a news briefing in Benin.

According to him, the election in the state must be free, fair, and credible because there will be no democracy if we do otherwise.

He added that Buhari will not lose anything if the governorship election is credible.

His words, “We are calling on the President to ensure that the next week’s governorship election in the state is free, fair and credible.

“There can never be democracy if electoral processes are not free, fair and credible.

“The president will not lose anything if the governorship election is credible.

“We urged him to use this Edo governorship election as a basis for his government’s electoral reform agenda.”
