Davido Takes Up New Role as Chairman of Osun Sports Trust Fund

Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke, famously known as Davido, has been appointed as the Chairman of the newly established Osun State Sports Trust Fund.

The appointment, officially announced by the Osun State Government on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, forms part of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s broader agenda to rejuvenate the sports sector and improve infrastructure across the state.

Under his new position, Davido will be responsible for driving fundraising efforts, partnerships, and investment opportunities aimed at transforming sports facilities and encouraging youth participation in sports development.

Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, who also serves as the Commissioner for Sports, disclosed that the award-winning artiste has embraced the role with enthusiasm and pledged to support the state’s vision for sports advancement.

“The Osogbo Township Stadium is currently undergoing a massive upgrade to meet Olympic standards. We are also finalising the establishment of the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as the key body for sports administration and policy execution,” Adewusi said.

He noted that the Sports Trust Fund, now chaired by Davido, is designed to attract support from private individuals, corporate donors, and sports enthusiasts both within and outside Nigeria to ensure long-term financing of sports programmes in the state.

“Davido’s global influence and reputation will no doubt draw in vital resources and attention that will fast-track sports growth in Osun,” Adewusi added.

Governor Adeleke’s administration reiterated its determination to use sports as a powerful tool for youth empowerment, community building, and the promotion of healthy living across Osun State.
