President Muhammadu Buhari has come out to urge Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to focus on meeting their targets of generating revenues for the government.

He recently revealed that failure to do so will definitely attract a sanction, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, relevant agencies should ensure the realisation of Nigeria’s crude oil production and export targets henceforth, else, heads of defaulting agencies will be punished.

He added that Nigerians and the business community should also learn to fulfil their tax obligations promptly.

His words, “We are intensifying our domestic revenue mobilisation efforts so that we can have adequate resources to fund the 2021 Budget.”

“Revenue generating agencies and all MDAs must work very hard to achieve their revenue targets, control their cost-to-revenue ratios, as well as ensure prompt and full remittance of revenue collections.”

β€œRelevant agencies are to ensure the realisation of our crude oil production and export targets. Heads of defaulting Agencies are hereby warned that they will be severely sanctioned.”

β€œI also appeal to our fellow citizens and the business community to fulfil their tax obligations promptly.”
