The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Boboye Oyeyemi has come out to praise the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola for aiding the fast removal of a fallen tanker on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

He recently revealed this in a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal, Bisi Kazeem, in Abuja.

According to him, public office holders should emulate the minister’s proactive approach to issues of national importance, because that is the way to go.

He added the swift removal was key because the gas tanker fell around the Ibafo area of the expressway and caused undue gridlock which saw passersby stranded during the crossover night.

His words, “While the FRSC worked out modalities for the immediate removal of the obstruction, the minister’s intervention was critical to the evacuation of the tanker.”

Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN (Yoruba: Babátúndé Rájí Fáshọlá; born 28 June, 1963) is a Nigerian lawyer and politician who is currently the Federal Minister of Works and Housing. He served two terms as Governor of Lagos State from May 29, 2007 to May 29, 2015.

As a candidate of the Action Congress party, now known as the All Progressives Congress, Fashola succeeded Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on 14 April, 2007, and was sworn in on 29 May, 2007.

Fashola was re-elected on 26 April, 2011. On November 11th 2015, he was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari to be the Minister of Power, Works and Housing; he was reappointed Minister of Works & Housing on the 21st of August 2019.

Babatunde Raji Fashola of Yoruba origin, from Lagos, was born in Lagos on 28 June, 1963. He attended Birch Freeman High school Lagos and Igbobi College Lagos. He studied Law at the University of Benin from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws, LL.B.(Hon), degree in 1987.
