Fubara Has Done Nothing To Warrant Impeachment – INC

The Ijaw National Congress (INC) and its youth wing, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), have called on the Rivers State House of Assembly to halt ongoing impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara. This comes amid rising political tension in Rivers State, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to the INC President, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, the impeachment attempt is not a matter of the Ijaw nation, but of democracy, so all defenders of democratic principles must resist the unfortunate development.

He added that the crisis had previously been resolved following a six-month suspension of the governor and his deputy, so he does not understand why it is resurfacing months later.

His words, “The governor has not done anything wrong. He has initiated development projects across the state. This is a time for governance, not war.”
