Popular Nigerian singer GT Da Guitarman has urged Nigerian artists to keep the Grammy Awards in perspective. He recently insisted that not winning should not overshadow their global achievements, and fans have been reacting.

According to him, the strong Nigerian presence on the nomination list is worthy of celebration, and he can only advise those who did not win not to feel discouraged.

GT added that Nigerians naturally expect victory at the Grammys because of the country’s competitive spirit in sports and other international competitions.

His words, “The nominated artistes shouldn’t allow not winning a Grammy to derail them. They are all doing well and their sounds are dominating globally.

A lot of people expected that a Nigerian artiste could have picked it up because we obviously are very passionate about our country.

Whenever any of us is doing anything — whether it is boxing or football — we are always very passionate about winning. And I think it’s a Nigerian thing.

But I feel that the fact that they were nominated is a big deal. The award was made for one person. And in the year in review, it was found that these guys are the guys that people listened to. I think that is a big deal.

And that they were picked from different geographical locations in Africa — that’s beautiful.”

WOW.
