Hilda Baci Receives Second Guinness World Record Plaque For World’s Largest Jollof Rice Cookout

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has been honoured with her second Guinness World Record plaque, following her remarkable achievement in preparing the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.

Guinness World Records officially confirmed that the Lagos cookout, held in September, saw Hilda create an astonishing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice — setting a new global record.

This latest milestone comes barely a year after her first record in May 2023, when she made history with a 93-hour, 11-minute non-stop cooking marathon. With both titles, Hilda becomes the first Nigerian chef to hold multiple Guinness World Records.

All the food cooked during the record-breaking event was distributed among guests and donated to charitable organisations, fulfilling Guinness’ stringent verification requirements.

Taking to social media to celebrate her double honour, Hilda expressed gratitude for the journey, her faith, and the opportunity to make Nigeria proud on the international stage.

“Your plaques are finally here!!! Two records. Two plaques. One story of faith, fire, and history. Twice, God showed up for me. Twice, we made history for Nigeria. And not just any records — two of the biggest culinary records ever set. Together with Gino, we created something bigger than ourselves — a story that reached over 5 billion people and reminded the world what’s possible when passion meets purpose. I’m a two-time world record holder, someone pinch me,” she wrote.

The chef also drew inspiration from Isaiah 61:7, adding: “A two-time Guinness World Record Holder!!! Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.”

Hilda’s latest recognition further cements her status as one of Nigeria’s most influential culinary figures, celebrating not only her personal success but also the creativity and excellence of African cuisine on the global stage.
