Celebrating 2 decades of excellence in the music industry, 2baba recently had a chat with Pulse on his journey.

To mark the amazing milestone, the singer has started a series of events. The first event happened on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 with a press conference at Ediye! resturant, Fola Osibo street, Lekki Phase I. A lot of entertainment journalists were in attendance.

Asked about how he feels about the journey, he said, “It’s 20 years since I had my first hit record. Since then, I have consistently been at the top of the Nigerian music industry and I can be considered a top 10 great – however you want to call it (laughs). Since that time I still dey till now.”

“I’m mostly filled with gratitude as regards so many things that I’ve learned and so many things that I’ve achieved. I’m just grateful, man and I’m happy.”

On what he plans to do in future, “I’m going to keep taking it one step at a time, I’ll be doing my thing. Music is definitely still part of my movement.” When asked about the prospects of an album, he says, “Definitely, definitely, music go dey come.”

He is a legend indeed.

Innocent Ujah Idibia (born in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria), known by his stage name 2Baba, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, record producer and entrepreneur. Prior to July 2014, he went by the stage name 2face Idibia. He is one of the most decorated and successful Afro pop artists in Africa, and is also one of the most bankable performing music artistes in Africa.

With over 2 decades of trailblazing and topping the charts in his industry, 2Baba remains a formidable force, and one of the most influential in the Nigerian Entertainment space. He is also a known philanthropist and humanitarian.

Innocent Idibia was born in Jos, Nigeria . He is from the Idoma ethnic group in the southern part of Benue State, in central Nigeria. He attended Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School in Makurdi, Benue State. He enrolled at Institute of Management & Technology, Enugu (IMT), where he did his preliminary National Diploma course in business administration and management. While attending IMT, he performed at school organised shows and parties, as well as other regional schools such as the University of Nigeria and Enugu State University of Science & Technology. He eventually dropped out to pursue his music career. While attending IMT, 2face Idibia started composing and singing jingles at the GB Fan Club at Enugu State Broadcasting Services (ESBS) in 1996.

Also in 1996, he adopted the stage name “2Face” (Tuface). He cited the reason as “trying to demarcate my personal life with my business life.

2Baba is married to Nigerian award-winning actress, movie producer, model and serial entrepreneur Annie Macaulay – Idibia. On 2 May 2012, 2Baba and Annie Macaulay married in Lagos, Nigeria in a private ceremony. A civil ceremony also held in Dubai, UAE on March 23, 2013 and had a high attendance of celebrities.

The celebrity couple are parents to 2 girls; Olivia Idibia and Isabella Idibia. 2Baba is father to 7 kids; 5 kids from 2 previous relationships.

2Baba has survived near-death events, including gunshots from an armed robbery incident near Oshodi, Lagos.
