Sir Shina Peters
Veteran Nigerian Juju musician, Oluwashina Akanbi Peters, popularly known as Sir Shina Peters, has opened up about his personal life, disclosing that he became a father for the first time at just 14 years old.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the Afrojuju legend revealed that he began his musical journey at the age of 10 and found success quite early in life.
“I started my career at the age of 10. I had my first child at 14. I bought my first car at 13. I built my first house at 16,” he said.
However, the 67-year-old ruled out the possibility of staging a comeback to the music scene, noting that the current environment is no longer “conducive” for him to make new recordings.
Sir Shina Peters also pointed out that his fan base spans across different ethnic groups, adding that he actually has more Igbo fans than Yoruba fans.
“65 per cent of my fans are Igbos, not Yorubas. My fans are demanding that I give them new music but I don’t just go to the studio. I can’t go to the studio, the atmosphere is not conducive for me. I don’t know what to sing,” the music legend added.
