INEC Deserves Praise For How The Enugu Bye-Election Was Conducted – PDP

The Enugu State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has come out to hail the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies, for the conduct of a credible, transparent and hitch-free bye-election for Isi-Uzo Constituency seat in the State House of Assembly.

Recall that the election was recently won by the party’s candidate, Mrs Catherine Amaka Ugwueze.

According to a statement by its State Publicity Secretary, Chief Jude Ugwu, Mrs Catherine Amaka Ugwueze deserves to be congratulated for her landslide victory during the bye-election, and Governor Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi should also be hailed for his tremendous support during the exercise.

He then thanked the good people of Enugu State for their goodwill and solidarity during the polls.

His words, “We reiterate our commitment to the existing peace and good governance entrenched in Enugu State by the State Leader of our Party, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.”

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is a major contemporary political party in Nigeria. Its policies generally lie towards the centre-right of the political spectrum. It won every Presidential election between 1999 and 2011, and was until the 2015 elections, the governing party in the Fourth Republic although in some cases, amid a few controversial electoral circumstances. They won the presidential election and were inaugurated 29 May, 1999.

The longtime slogan of the People’s Democratic Party has been “Power to the people”. During the party’s National Convention in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on 21 May 2016, David Mark, a former President of the Senate of Nigeria, introduced “Change the change” as the party’s campaign slogan for the 2019 general elections.
