Popular TikTok personality and livestreamer Hamzat Habeeb, widely known as Peller, has ignited intense debate online after crashing his car during a live Instagram broadcast on the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos.
The unsettling episode took place on Sunday while Peller was streaming a session titled “RIP Peller,” a video that has since gained widespread attention across social media. In the footage, the influencer was seen driving his newly acquired Mercedes-Benz alone, appearing emotionally unstable and under visible distress.
During the livestream, Peller was repeatedly seen crying while speaking on the phone in what viewers believed was a conversation with his girlfriend, Jarvis, amid circulating rumours that their relationship may have hit a breaking point.
As the broadcast progressed, Peller made several statements that alarmed viewers. At one point, he declared, “I will use this car and have an accident right now,” before later admitting, “I’m scared. I’m scared.”
His emotional breakdown deepened as he spoke about fear of public ridicule, saying, “If you break up with me, people will be mocking me, they will be mocking me, they will be mocking me, they will be, they will be mocking me, they will not… Thank you, I’m going to kill myself.”
Shortly after the statement, the livestream showed the content creator driving to another section of the road and intentionally crashing the vehicle into a stone, resulting in a collision.
Additional videos that later surfaced online captured moments after the crash, showing bystanders assisting Peller before he was taken to a hospital. As of press time, there has been no official update on the severity of his injuries.
Photos shared across social media platforms revealed that the Mercedes-Benz sustained heavy damage during the incident.
The crash has continued to generate strong reactions online, with many users expressing concern over Peller’s mental well-being. Some social media users called on the Federal Road Safety Corps to probe the incident, stressing that such actions posed serious risks to other motorists.
While a section of viewers claimed the incident may have been staged for online engagement, others condemned the act as dangerous and irresponsible, calling for appropriate measures to be taken.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Peller nor relevant authorities have released an official statement regarding the incident.
