Nigerian Lives Should Worth More Under Buhari’s Government – Atiku

Ex-Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has come out to express shock over the killing of rice farmers in Jere Local Government of Borno State by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

He recently revealed that the murder of more than 40 rice farmers in Borno state is very heartbreaking.

According to him, the rejig of the nation’s security architecture is long overdue as more sad news cannot be condoned in the country.

He added that the lives of our citizens should be worth much more than it is right now, and may the souls of the departed rest in peace.

His words, “Heartbreaking. Words fail me. The lives of our citizens should be worth much more than this. The rejig of the nation’s security architecture is long overdue. May their souls rest in peace and may their families be comforted.”

Atiku Abubakar GCON (born 25 November 1946) is a Nigerian politician and businessman who served as the Vice President of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 during the presidency of Olusegun Obasanjo. Since the return to democracy, Abubakar has contested in all the elections.

Atiku Abubakar was born on 25 November 1946 in Jada, a village which was then under the administration of the British Cameroons – the territory later joined with the Federation of Nigeria in the 1961 British Cameroons referendum.

His father, Garba Abubakar was a Fulani trader and farmer, and his mother was Aisha Kande. He was named after his paternal grandfather Atiku Abdulqadir and became the only child of his parents when his only sister died at infancy.

In 1957, his father died by drowning while crossing a river to Toungo, a neighbouring village to Jada.
