No Going Back On January 1st Tax Law Commencement – Tinubu

The Presidency has confirmed that the new tax laws scheduled to commence on January 1, 2026, will proceed as planned. FG recently revealed that even the laws that were enacted on June 26, 2025, will not be suspended, and Nigerians have been reacting.

In a statement released hours ago, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu described the reforms as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build a fair, competitive and robust fiscal foundation for Nigeria.

BAT added that the new tax laws will drive harmonisation and strengthen the social contract while protecting citizens’ dignity.

His words, “No substantial issue has been established that warrants a disruption of the reform process.

Absolute trust is built over time through making the right decisions, not through premature, reactive measures.”
