Nigerian blogger Noble Igwe has publicly thanked the Lagos State government following a fire outbreak at his home, expressing relief that his family was unharmed.
Sharing videos of the incident on Instagram, the father of three explained that the fire started in his kitchen around 12:30 p.m., just as the family was preparing to head out for brunch. Their house help quickly alerted them, prompting his wife, Chioma, to evacuate with their children.
“This is a post to say ‘Thank God for his faithfulness.’ At about 12:30 p.m., the AC in our kitchen caught fire while we were getting ready to go out for brunch. The help informed us, and Chioma ran out with her children, asking for the keys to her car,” Igwe wrote.
He also emphasized the role of community support in managing emergencies. “Anyway, it’s always good to build a community because today, my community showed up and fought the fire. Drivers, gatekeepers, and house owners showed up and contained the fire to the kitchen,” he added.
Igwe further praised the Lagos Fire Service for their swift intervention. “The amazing part was the Lagos State Fire Service showing up on time in a brand-new truck. We often bash the government, but today, I am here to say ‘Thank you’ to the Lagos State Government, and thank you, Governor Babajide. We thank God Almighty for his mercies and grace. Help me thank you,” he said.
The incident underscores the importance of prompt government response and strong community vigilance in preventing disasters from escalating.
