President Muhammadu Buhari has come out to celebrate the Oba of Lagos, Dr. Rilwanu Babatunde, on his 77th birthday.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu revealed this in a recent statement in Abuja.

According to Buhari, he can only commiserate with the traditional ruler on the recent violence that led to the loss of lives and property in Lagos because he has always stood for peace and development of Lagos state.

He added that he will never regret his long association and friendship with the Oba because it has been worth it.

His words, “The President recalled his long association and friendship with the Oba and appreciated the personal role that the latter has played in nurturing the peace and development of Lagos state and nation as a whole.”

Muhammadu Buhari GCFR (born 17 December 1942) is a Nigerian politician currently serving as the President of Nigeria, in office since 2015. He is a retired major general in the Nigerian Army and previously served as the nation’s head of state from 31 December 1983 to 27 August 1985, after taking power in a military coup d’état. Muhammadu Buhari was born to a Fulani family on 17 December 1942, in Daura, Katsina State, to his father Hardo Adamu, a Fulani chief, and mother Zulaihat. He is the twenty-third child of his father. Buhari was raised by his mother, after his father died when he was about four years old.
