Afrobeats star Omah Lay has reacted to his first Grammy nomination, expressing excitement over the recognition but emphasizing that awards are not a personal priority.

The singer received the nod for his collaboration with Davido on the track “With You,” which is up for Best African Music Performance at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.

Sharing his thoughts on Instagram, Omah Lay highlighted his admiration for Davido, describing him as a steadfast friend who supported him during difficult times.

“I’m excited about this Grammy nomination haha but fr fr I don’t give a sh!t about awards. Yeah but I really want it for OBO! he is the realest friend I’ve had in while, he stood by during my hardest times,” he wrote.

Davido, who has been nominated four times without yet winning—including twice in the Best African Music Performance category since it was introduced in 2023—continues to be a dominant figure in Afrobeats.

The 68th Grammy Awards will hold on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
