Lagos-based TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, has publicly apologised after a dramatic car crash during a live broadcast sparked outrage online, urging Nigerians to stop directing abuse at fellow content creator Jarvis.

In a video shared on his Instagram page on Friday, the influencer spoke from a hospital bed, accepting full responsibility for the incident and admitting that his actions were driven by emotional distress.

“I am sorry for everything I have done. Please, I am truly sorry. I allowed my emotions to get the best of me, and that is why I acted the way I did. I did not mean for things to turn out this way,” he said.

Peller was emphatic that Jarvis should not be blamed for what happened, insisting she played no role in the events that led to the crash.

“Please forgive me. I am very sorry, and I did not do it intentionally. I am asking everyone to forgive me. Please do not bully Jarvis. She is not the problem. It’s me,” he added.

In the caption accompanying the video, the livestreamer revealed that he is currently receiving medical attention and promised that such behaviour would not recur.

“I’m sorry, Nigerians, please I am sorry I will never do that again, am very sorry, please, for now I am on medication, once I’m done with my medication I will be online,” he wrote.

The apology follows a disturbing incident that occurred last Sunday on the Lekki–Epe Expressway, where Peller crashed his newly purchased Mercedes-Benz while livestreaming on TikTok with the title RIP Peller.

During the broadcast, the content creator appeared emotionally unstable while speaking on the phone with someone believed to be Jarvis, amid rumours of a fallout between them. At different moments, he was heard making alarming statements such as, “I will use this car and have an accident right now,” and later, “I’m scared. I’m scared.”

In another tense moment, he reportedly said, “If you leave me, people will mock me… Thank you, I’m going to kill myself,” shortly before driving off and crashing into a stone barrier.

Footage from the scene showed bystanders rushing to assist him before he was taken to a hospital, while photos of the badly damaged car quickly spread across social media.

The incident triggered public outrage, leading to Peller’s arrest by the Lagos State Police Command for reckless driving. Police authorities described his conduct as extremely dangerous and confirmed that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The episode has reignited conversations around mental health, emotional pressure, and the risks of extreme behaviour among online content creators, with many Nigerians calling for greater responsibility and caution in the pursuit of digital engagement.
