The infant son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has been named in public for the first time, as the Palace announced he would be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.
He could choose to become King George VII when he eventually takes the throne, with a name that takes in references to his father, grandfather, and his great-great-grandfather.
In a statement released this afternoon, Kensington Palace said:
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son George Alexander Louis.
The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.
