Science Is Key To Defeating Poverty In Nigeria – FG

ogbonnaya onu2The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu has come out to pledge that the Federal Government will prioritize science education in the country.

He recently revealed that the celebration of World Science Day was to highlight the benefits of Science, Technology, and Innovation to human development for the world, including Nigeria.

According to him, it is clear that science is crucial to solving both economic and security challenges facing our nation, so it has to be taken seriously.

He added that the application of science and technology is key to defeating poverty, unemployment and security challenges in Nigeria.

His words, “We are raising the consciousness of our people to embrace Science, Technology and Innovation”.

On how science has helped with coronavirus, “We have also recorded success in developing a new and faster method of testing Covid-19; therefore Nigeria must be counted among the countries that contributed positively to solving the global challenge of Covid-19.”

Muhammadu Buhari GCFR (born 17 December 1942) is a Nigerian politician currently serving as the President of Nigeria, in office since 2015. Muhammadu Buhari was born to a Fulani family on 17 December 1942, in Daura, Katsina State, to his father Hardo Adamu, a Fulani chief, and mother Zulaihat. He is the twenty-third child of his father. Buhari was raised by his mother, after his father died when he was about four years old.
