Popular Afrobeats singer Joeboy has shared how Mr Eazi helped launch his music career. He recently revealed that his cover of Ed Sheeran’s song led to his former label boss discovering him, and fans have been reacting.

Disclosing how his friend sent his “Shape of You” cover to Mr Eazi on social media, he noted that they started talking about music soon after.

Joeboy added that their discussion eventually led to him signing a record deal with the “Legover” crooner.

His words, “We didn’t have any access to the industry. We believed the best way for us to be seen or heard was to do covers of popular songs.

It went viral… and a friend of mine tried to send the video to a bunch of established artists. Mr Eazi was one of them and that’s how we started talking.

I got signed to Mr Eazi through social media.

I thank God for Ed Sheeran for making that song. Who would have known?
