The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has warned against parking fuel tankers and heavy-duty vehicles on newly constructed roads. He recently had his say during an inspection of the Aleto Bridge project in Rivers State, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, parking heavy-duty vehicles on newly constructed roads actually threatens the durability and lifespan of critical infrastructure, so perpetrators must be stopped.

Umahi added that keeping static loads on roads will eventually lead to destruction.

His words, “Yesterday, I saw fuel tankers parked on the completed road. No road is designed for static loads; they’ll destroy it.”

WOW.
