Taribo – ‘Keshi remains Nigeria’s best coach’

Despite the huge public outcry against the retention of coach Stephen Keshi as Super Eagles manager after the Nations Cup qualifier fiasco, one of his allies, Pastor Taribo West has maintained that the Big Boss remains the best coach in Nigeria.

Taribo hinged his defence of Keshi’s success based on the fact that he won the African Nations Cup in 2013 in South Africa and also led the team to second round in the last World Cup in Brazil last year.

The ex Inter Milan strongman hinted that no local coach had achieved this feat in the history of football in this country.
He, however, insisted that Keshi should be re-appointed as the team’s manager to enable him to start the preparations for the Nations Cup qualifier and other championship.

But the position of Taribo differ from the position of the Nigeria Football Federation technical director, Shaibu Amodu, who insisted that Keshi should go for failing to qualify Nigeria for the Nations Cup.

Amodu’s grouse stems from the fact that Keshi is planning to hold on despite his failure to qualify the Super Eagles for the Nations Cup.

The technical director observed that coach Samson Siasia was relieved of his job when he failed to qualify the team for the Nations Cup stressing that the same treatment should have been extended to Keshi as well.
