A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has said that Nigeria’s next president must be able to give the people a sense of belonging.
He recently revealed that the country needs a leader who can foster a sense of justice for every citizen, not just his tribal or partisan affiliation.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Tonight, Lawal shared that Labour Party’s Peter Obi was the true winner of the 2023 presidential election.
According to him, his team tracked the voting process across Nigeria during the elections, and after a lot of data gathering and result monitoring, several irregularities were discovered.
He stated that Tinubu did not win the election because some of the election results were altered.
“The problem with Bola Tinubu is that he thinks I’m the one that offended him. I didn’t offend him, he offended me and he is full of himself, and he thinks that he now so-called president…I believe he didn’t win the election.
Some of the results were altered,” he said.
Asked what offence Tinubu committed against him, Lawal insisted that the President is an arrogant man who believes his own hype.
He concluded by saying that the guarantee of a fair and just environment for all citizens is very important ahead of the next election.
“He is arrogant. The guy has an arrogance that belies definitions.
We know who we are that are driving it. We know what we read and what we see on the streets. We know what people say on the streets. We are Nigerians now. We are not living in heaven. Power should go to the person that will give every Nigerian a sense of belonging, a sense of justice. Even if he is a Lebanese.
The issue is about politics. You see, the thing is personal. In the end, to the individual, to me, to you, how are you living? Is there an environment in which your aspirations are achieved? And who can guarantee that environment? So that is what is most important to the individual Nigerian,” he added.
