Toolz Slams Double Standards as Junior Pope’s Widow Faces Backlash for ‘Moving On’

Media personality Toolz Oniru has strongly defended the late actor Junior Pope’s wife after she came under fire from a Nigerian man who accused her of “moving on” too quickly, nearly two years after her husband’s passing.

The criticism surfaced after the widow posted a video of herself posing playfully with actress Mercy Johnson, with both women flaunting their curves. While a man identified as Obiasogu complimented her looks, he went on to chastise her for appearing cheerful, suggesting that caring for three sons should have left her too overwhelmed to “move on.”

Toolz quickly countered the attack, noting that it has been 20 months since Junior Pope died. She questioned why anyone would expect the bereaved mother to remain in perpetual mourning, especially in a society where widowers often remarry within a year.

“Barely a year is actually 20 months,” she wrote. “She should lock herself away and mourn forever? When it wouldn’t be unusual in this country for a man to have another wife within the same year.”

Her response underscored the societal double standards frequently imposed on women, urging the public to show compassion and allow the widow the freedom to rebuild her life.
