Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the concerns raised by US President Donald Trump regarding the alleged genocide against Christians in Nigeria. Recall that Trump recently threatened Nigeria with possible military action, and citizens have been reacting.

Also reacting, Fani-Kayode declared that Nigeria would defend its sovereignty against any form of external aggression.

In a series of posts on X, Fani-Kayode described Trump’s comments as provocative and unjustified, stating that Nigerian leaders and citizens must treat the allegation with the seriousness it deserves.

According to him, foreign leaders are fond of mischaracterising Nigeria while comfortably ignoring their own role in global instability.

He revealed that international double standards could easily worsen domestic tensions if not carefully handled.

“The crisis should serve as a wake-up call for our leaders and citizens to strengthen national resolve. Any foreign action framed as protecting one community could worsen internal divisions,” he wrote.

Fani-Kayode further cautioned the federal government against depending solely on reassurances from foreign officials, noting that shifts in U.S. domestic politics could influence future policy toward Nigeria.

He concluded by calling for vigilance and strategic engagement, stressing that conciliatory statements should not be mistaken for a settled American position.
