Why Pastor Adeboye Says He Now Prefers Male Secretaries

Pastor E.A. Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has shed more light on his decision to stop employing female secretaries — a choice he says is rooted in caution rather than discrimination.

During a recent sermon, the respected cleric explained that the nature of his work often keeps him busy late into the night. According to him, this demanding schedule made him reconsider having women serve in close proximity during such hours.

He noted that some people have misunderstood his decision, but he insists it is simply a matter of maintaining personal boundaries. Adeboye said he is fully aware of who he used to be before giving his life to Christ and recognizes the potential risks of being alone with a woman during late-night ministry sessions.

He, however, made it clear that his choice is not a reflection of distrust toward women. In fact, he praised his former female secretary for her integrity and devotion, describing her as a “true child of God” who served faithfully during her time at the Ebute Metta office.

Despite her exemplary character, Adeboye emphasized that his current preference for male secretaries is solely a protective measure—for himself, for others, and for the ministry.
