Wike Wasn’t Running From Protesters In Viral Video – Aide

An aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Lere Olayinka, has dismissed claims that the minister was running away from protesters during a demonstration in Abuja on Monday. He recently had his say during an interview with ARISE TV, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, Wike did not flee from the aggrieved workers, contrary to what viral videos circulating on social media suggested, and he merely used an alternative exit after protesters barricaded the main entrance.

Lere added that Wike had to make his way to the airport to see Tinubu off ahead of his Turkiye trip.

His words, “The minister was not running away from anything. The entrance of the secretariat was barricaded by the protesters, and instead of instructing security to clear them, he chose to use a different exit from the Ministry of Agriculture so that he could make his way to the airport, where he was supposed to see the president off.”
