Wunmi Aloba Calls Out Father-in-Law as Another SAN Withdraws from DNA Case

Wunmi Aloba, widow of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has once again addressed the ongoing DNA controversy involving her son, Liam, revealing that yet another Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) has stepped away from the case.

Taking to her Instagram story on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Wunmi voiced her frustration over what she described as her father-in-law Joseph Aloba’s constant change of lawyers, despite his continued insistence on having a DNA test to confirm Liam’s paternity.

She wrote, “Another lawyer, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has withdrawn from the DNA case. To my father-in-law, you can get as many lawyers as you want from anywhere in the world; one thing that’s certain is that you can’t manipulate this DNA. I’m sorry.”

In another post, Wunmi criticized the repeated legal shake-ups surrounding the case, stressing that she and her team have been transparent and compliant with every legal process from the very beginning.

“Another lawyer gone. A whole SAN,” she wrote. “When people are confident in truth, they don’t run. They don’t hide. They don’t switch lawyers every month. They don’t ignore court calls. We have cooperated from day one. We have never opposed a DNA test. We showed up. We waited. We followed the law.”

Wunmi further alleged that the individuals demanding the DNA test were the same ones stalling the process. She maintained that neither the judiciary nor scientific evidence could be influenced by external forces.

“The only people delaying this process are the same people who requested it. No one can manipulate the court, and no one can manipulate science. Let the truth speak—for Liam, for Mohbad, and for justice. Again. November 11 is around the corner. We will be there,” she added.

The DNA saga has remained a major source of friction between Wunmi and her father-in-law, who insists that the test is necessary to establish clarity and peace within the family. However, many observers have accused him of prolonging the matter through his frequent public commentary and media appearances.

Since Mohbad’s passing in September 2023, his family has faced multiple disputes, including investigations into his death and disagreements over his assets. The unresolved DNA issue has only deepened the divide between both sides.

Wunmi, on her part, has continued to affirm her willingness to undergo the DNA test, provided it is done through the right legal framework and handled transparently.
