Yoga – The Path to a Healthier Life

Yoga - The Path to a Healthier Life

Is practicing yoga having a healthy life?

The answer to this question can quickly become controversial. Indeed, the practice of yoga is very good for both the body and the mind. It is the path to liberation, to a life full of decorum.
But practicing asanas is not enough. You have to make a real choice of life, in terms of your ideals, your rhythm of life, and your way of consuming.

PSYCHOLOGICAL SERENITY AND SELF-KNOWLEDGE
The practice of yoga is all about reconnecting with oneself, cultivating the harmony of one’s body and mind. Yoga is about knowing yourself, becoming aware of your body, your breathing, etc.

In the society in which we live, we can encounter several stressors: tight ends of the month, the impression that we have no time, family obligations, personal projects, investments, or even traffic jams that will affect us. All of these events can quickly take over the other positive events that we may experience.

Yoga, therefore, helps to reduce stress, to focus your attention on your breathing or your movements when practicing asanas for example. This discipline also allows you to refocus on your well-being. It will help to regulate your emotions, whether they are positive, negative, or more or less intense. It’s about taking a step back, bringing a new perspective.

The yoga that we practice on our mat therefore helps us to find a real balance in our daily life.

BALANCE RIGHT DOWN TO YOUR TOES
Yoga is not just about performing postures.

Physical activity, performing postures, is also called Asana. The Asanas are therefore in reality only the 3rd pillar of this discipline.

We saw just before that this practice brings stability, psychological serenity. And it goes even further. During a session, you first become aware of your body and your breathing. Then, by performing postures, we become aware of the interest of each of our members. This is the case, for example, with the fingers and toes which are used during each practice, and which are present to maintain stability.

Being well in your body is therefore knowing it, knowing how far it can take us. It is to understand it, to accept it. It is taking care of it and living with it. It’s finding a balance, in your head, and even in your sneakers.

THE DESIRE TO ALWAYS GO FURTHER
Yoga is an addictive discipline. The effects on our minds or our bodies make us want to go further. During practice, we will try to push our limits because we quickly realize that each movement is there to do us good. Most of the postures have intermediate levels which firstly allow you to learn correctly without hurting yourself, but also to see our progress. And this panel of progression is large: different levels in postures, flexibility, balance, etc.

FOOD
Practicing yoga is a real choice of life, which is why we quickly realize that this practice so beneficial for our body is not enough. We can feel a need for continuity in this process of liberation: we will tend to be interested in our food for example.

We are what we eat. Our body, the energy that comes out of it is a reflection of this. We will choose to separate ourselves from foods that our body will have difficulty digesting. If we want to be able to go further in each of the practices, it is important to have a lot of energy: if our body already draws all this energy from digestion, the practices will only be worse.

It is therefore important to have a healthy lifestyle, sufficient hydration, and a healthy diet, to practice in the best conditions.

MEDITATION
Yoga and meditation are inextricably linked. One could categorize the practice of hatha-yoga, a combination of postures and breaths, as a type of meditation.

I am talking to you here about a meditation, guided or not, which will consist of observing his emotions, to let them escape without attaching importance to them. You usually start a yoga session with a quiet time. A moment of refocusing on oneself, of breathing. It is the same after a session.

Meditation is ultimately a complement to the practice of yoga because it has its benefits over a session: it allows you to focus on the present moment and improves the ability to concentrate.

TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF
How many hours, quarters of an hour do you give yourself every day? Probably too little. Between your 8 hours of work, the time spent by car, the time to pick up the children from school, to cook, to go shopping but also to socialize with your loved ones, when do you find time for yourself?

A morning flow, when everyone is still in bed, is the perfect time to give yourself some time, to gently wake up your body and mind. A few minutes, ten, twenty, or even thirty to prepare you to face or rather, to enjoy a new day
