The Lagos State House of Assembly has decided to amend the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic Bill to reflect the regulation of the administration of the vaccines in the state.

The assembly recently revealed this via voice votes, after a motion moved by the Chairman, Ad Hoc Committee on Health, Mr Hakeem Sokunle in Lagos on Monday.

According to the lawmakers, they also plan to regulate the administration of the vaccines by both private and public hospitals in the state.

Mr Hakeem added that there is a need for the assembly to amend the coronavirus bill earlier passed to regulate its vaccines in the state because Lagosians have already started buying different vaccines for the purpose.

His words, “We need to regulate the administration of the vaccines in order to avert futuristic health challenges that may occur as a result of these vaccines,”

“We all know that the pandemic has affected the entire world and the solution to the ravaging effect of this is the vaccine.”

“Some people are allegedly bringing in the vaccine. But, it has to be regulated and controlled. This vaccine has conditions that must be observed for preservation.”

“It is very important because of the new variants of the virus. In Nigeria, there has to be control. I will suggest that we recall the bill to ensure that the administration of the vaccine is brought in,.”
