Edo Lawmaker Natasha, Wife of 2Baba, Summoned Over Viral Video Conduct

The Edo State House of Assembly has summoned Natasha Osawaru, first-term lawmaker representing Egor Constituency and wife of music superstar 2Baba, to appear before its Committee on Ethics and Privileges over alleged conduct that members say has damaged the House’s reputation.

The decision follows the circulation of online videos showing Natasha in a heated argument with her husband, sparking widespread attention on social media.

Speaking during Tuesday’s plenary, Speaker Blessing Agbebaku stressed that Natasha must appear before the committee within a week to respond to allegations of misconduct. He noted that the matter has impacted the public’s perception of the Assembly.

“Hon. Natasha Irobosa has been summoned to appear before the Ethics and Privilege Committee of the Assembly due to her recent conduct which has been trending online. This conduct drags the name of the House into the mud and it is the responsibility of the members of the Assembly to conduct themselves well,” Agbebaku said.

He added, “This House has members who know what they are doing and the attitude of our member has brought this House to disrepute and we will not tolerate it.” The Speaker described the Assembly as being made up of “cerebral minds” who should not be embroiled in unnecessary controversies.

The Ethics and Privileges Committee is expected to complete its investigation and submit a report within two weeks.

Natasha, who gained initial recognition through her ties to the entertainment industry, has been seen as a fresh political voice in Egor Constituency, with a focus on women-centered and community development initiatives.

In November, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy. Speculation about her labour had arisen after she was spotted at a hospital, which she later confirmed on Facebook, announcing they had been “blessed with a baby boy.”

Her scheduled appearance before the committee is expected to draw significant public interest as the House formally reviews her conduct.
