Reality TV personality CeeC has offered fresh insight into how public perception has shaped her image, revealing that many people wrongly interpret her boldness and self-assurance as arrogance.
During a conversation on the Echo Room podcast, she reflected on how easily negative labels stick in Nigeria, explaining that people tend to adopt others’ opinions without taking time to understand the individual being judged.
According to her, this widespread assumption has influenced how she is viewed, with some tagging her as arrogant long before they have any personal encounter with her. She noted, however, that meeting her in real life often overturns that narrative.
In her words: “As I said, usually in Nigeria, where a lot of people follow the bad work. Like if somebody says ‘Oh, this person is bad,’ people don’t even wait to experience you. They just, oh yeah, they say she’s a bad person. So people don’t actually get to know you. So yeah, a lot of people see my confidence as being arrogant.”
CeeC stressed that anyone who genuinely interacts with her would likely reach a different conclusion: “But I would say something that you cannot meet me in person or experience me as a person, and go home and say I’m arrogant. You would definitely have a change of mindset about me.”
She went on to express how these assumptions have affected her: “So it has cost me a lot, because I hear some people say, ‘oh, that one, she’s just arrogant. You don’t even know me,’ but that’s what you, you know, like.”
Despite the challenges, she makes a conscious effort to leave a better impression on those who give her a chance: “So it has, but one thing that I’ve tried to do is I make sure that when you meet me, when you give me the grace to get to know me, you will not go home feeling that way.”
CeeC’s remarks shed light on the struggles public figures face when public opinion is built on hearsay rather than personal experience.
