How My 21-Year Marriage Was Divinely Ordained – Eedris Abdulkareem

Veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has opened up about the depth of his two-decade marriage, describing it as a bond orchestrated directly by God. Speaking on the Olofix Podcast, the 51-year-old musician reflected on his marital journey and insisted that true peace in life comes from choosing one wife.

The “Mr Lecturer” rapper revealed that he believes God intentionally prepared his wife for him and that it would be unreasonable for him to father a child with any other woman. His conviction, he noted, grew even stronger during his health crisis in 2022, when his wife donated one of her kidneys to save his life.

Sharing how their paths crossed, he said:

“I met my wife on September 18, 2003. We got married on December 11, 2004. And based on what God told me to do, that is how I take my action.

“Now, 20 years later, God said, ‘I am not done with you yet.’ You had a covenant with me. This is 21 years later.

“God gave me my own wife, not another person’s wife. Why will I be stupid to let another woman give birth to a child for me again?”

Although he acknowledged that African culture and Islam allow men to have multiple wives, Eedris argued that loving all wives equally — as required — is impossible.

In his words:

“Truly, we are Africans. You are allowed to be polygamous in nature. Even Islam says if you love women equally, you can marry as many as you can.

“But let us be sincere — it is not possible to love women equally. You can only love one woman.

“And as men with wisdom, if you want to live long, make sure only one woman gives birth to your children. If you want to live a sweet life, make sure it’s only one woman.”

Eedris Abdulkareem has continued to receive praise for consistently honouring his wife, whose selfless act played a vital role in saving his life.
