Alaafin of Oyo
Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has charged the newly appointed acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, to rebuild public trust in the Nigeria Police. He recently had his say via a congratulatory message issued through his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaye, and Nigerians have been reacting.
According to him, the new police chief must prioritise the protection of innocent citizens, uphold the rule of law and implement reforms that would foster a more professional and accountable police force.
He concluded by urging Disu to champion the protection of human rights as he assumes leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.
His words, “As you settle down, sir, I urge you to be professional and write your name in gold by giving us the new police Nigerians are craving for, in order for the police to gain the trust of society.
Your career has been a shining beacon of courage and resilience. It is a call to service that you are exceptionally prepared for.
It is expected that your leadership will bridge the gap between the Police and the community, fostering a safer, more secure and citizen-friendly environment.
You have consistently chosen service over self, setting a high standard for integrity and courage. Your dedication, discipline and hard work have paid off in this well-deserved appointment.
As you step into this commanding role, may your leadership continue to prioritise the protection of the innocent and the steadfast upholding of the rule of law.
The nation looks to you for a safer tomorrow. As you take the helm, I am confident that your strategic vision will steer the Nigeria Police Force towards a new era of proactive policing, enhanced security and public trust.”
WOW.
