Nigerian music star Ruger has clarified the rumours suggesting he is at odds with Afrobeats heavyweight Davido.

Talks of a disagreement began after Ruger openly applauded Wizkid and his fan base, a move that some supporters of Davido interpreted as him taking a side in the long-running rivalry between both superstars. The tension escalated when a user on X claimed Ruger’s career progress depended on seeking Davido’s forgiveness, saying, “When you’re ready apologize and beg Davido publicly, your song will enter No 1.”

Ruger immediately dismissed the insinuation, replying, “And did Davido tell you I did anything wrong to him?”—a response that triggered more online conversations.

He later addressed the matter more thoroughly, stressing that there is no friction between him and Davido. According to Ruger, he holds the award-winning singer in high regard and believes that respect is mutual.
