Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has come out to say that he is embarrassed by the deplorable state of the Emevor-Orogun Road, Isoko North Local Government Area, abandoned by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

He recently revealed this while speaking at Emevor during the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Campaign rally for the April 10, Isoko North constituency House of Assembly bye-election.

According to him, his government is very prepared to take over the construction of Section A of the road which leads to the town, because it is the right thing to do.

He added that his administration might not take the full construction to Orogun now, but he’ll make sure the stretch covering the Emevor town is done as soon as possible.

His words, “I have been told that NDDC has awarded the road for construction, but have also been abandoned and we cannot continue to allow our people to suffer.”

“I’ve also been told that the road is a long road leading to Orogun. What I want to assure you is that we may not be able to take the full construction to Orogun now, but we will make sure the stretch covering the Emevor town is done as soon as possible. The NDDC can continue from where we will stop.”

“Because for us when I was returning to office in 2018, I said it was important to restore the values that Ekiti people are known for.”

“That is why wherever you find yourself when you tell people that you are from Ekiti, there are a number of things they automatically associate with Ekiti. These include integrity, knowledge-seeking, determination to succeed, competence and compassion.”

“But regardless of whether the Federal Government fulfil their promise, we consider you our own and we also would like to at least show profound appreciation to you for doing Ekiti proud. We would do that via some cash donation to you.”
