The Federal Government, yesterday, lifted the suspension imposed on Dana Airlines last Saturday, after a meeting among officials of the airline, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, and Aviation Ministry in Abuja.

Consequently, the airline will resume flight operations today, according to the airline management last night.

Government, however, insisted on grounding the airline’s airplane that had a snag last weekend that necessitated the suspension.

Special Assistant to the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Joe Obi, confirmed to Vanguard last night that after series of deliberation on critical safety issues involved in the airline’s operations, government lifted the suspension imposed on the airline

Obi said: Officials of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, met with the management team from Dana Airlines today (yesterday) in Abuja and deliberated on some safety issues in connection with the operations of the airline.

At the end of the meeting, the suspension of the operations of the airline which took effect last Saturday was lifted. The airline is to resume normal operations immediately.

However, the particular aircraft which had a snag over the weekend is to remain grounded until after its air-worthiness has been re-certified by Boeing, the manufacturer of the aircraft.”

Dana Airlines also issued a statement last night, saying that following the lifting of the suspension, it will commence scheduled operations today.
