Popular public figure, Reno Omokri has jumped on social media to blast the actions of Christians in the Pentecostal faith and compare them with those in the Catholic faith.

He recently had his say on his Twitter handle, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, Pentecostals have formed the habit of condemning their pastors whenever they are caught in a sin, unlike their counterparts in the catholic faith who see any priest caught in sin as a wounded soldier who needs to be protected.

He added that this is why the Islamic faith is the fastest-growing religion in the world since they also operate a principle of protecting their wounded soldiers.

His words, ”One thing I admire in Catholics is that when a priest is caught in sin, they see him as a wounded soldier who needs rehabilitation and protect him. But Pentecostals will tear down their pastors caught in sin.”

“A pastor is like a striker. Strikers are marked by the enemy more than other players. The best football clubs have medics on standby to provide help, just in case a striker is injured.”

“A football club that refuses to tend to a wounded striker, and instead humiliates him before the opposing side, will always be relegated in the league table. And this is one reason why Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world today, bar none. Because they operate on this principle.”

Bemigho Reno Omokri (born 1974) is an author and lawyer. Omokri was the host of Transformation with Reno Omokri, a Christian teaching TV show broadcast (for one season) on San Francisco’s KTLN and Detroit’s Impact Network. He is the founder of a multimedia project, Build Up Nigeria, and has produced a series of short films in the U.S.

On August 17, 2017, the Department of State Security attempted to arrest him at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja but failed. Three days after the failed arrest attempt, the ruling party in Nigeria, the All Progressive Congress, named Omokri, along with former President Goodluck Jonathan and Governors Nyesom Wike and Willie Obiano as some of those showing “hatred, narrow-mindedness and meanness” to President Muhammadu Buhari.

He was one of three spokesmen to the former President, and is credited with pioneering the use of social media for political purposes in Nigeria.
