No Work On Friday To Allow Muslims Celebrate Eid-el-Fitr In Kano – Ganduje

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has come out to declare Friday as work-free day in his state.

The state commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba recently revealed this via a statement, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, there will be no work tomorrow solely to allow Muslim faithful continue with the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

He added that the decision was in consideration of the fact that Wednesday, May 12, which was part of the two-day Eid holiday declared by the federal government fell within the 30 days of Ramadan period.

His words, “The Governor felicitated with the Muslim Ummah on this auspicious period that calls for sober reflection and sharing of goodwill among adherents.”

β€œThe Governor urged people in the state to use the occasion, particularly during Juma’at service to pray for peace to continue to reign in the state and the country in general.”

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, OFR (born 25 December 1945) is a Nigerian politician and current Governor of Kano State since 2015. He previously served as deputy governor twice between 1999 and 2003 and 2011 to 2015.

Ganduje was born in Ganduje village of Dawakin Tofa local government area of Kano State in 1949.

He started his early education in Qur’anic and Islamiyya school at his village Ganduje where he became trained in Islamic knowledge. He later moved to headquarters of his local government where he attended Dawakin Tofa Primary School from 1956 to 1963. Ganduje attended the Government Secondary School Birnin Kudu from 1964 to 1968.

Ganduje attended Advanced Teachers’ College, Kano between 1969 and 1972. He then attended Ahmadu Bello University, located in Zaria, Kaduna State, where he graduated with a Bachelors in Science Education in 1975.
