Popular singer, Naira Marley has come out to say that the Nigeria Police Force is his friend.

He revealed this while he reacted to his recent arrest and conviction by an Abuja mobile court for flouting the COVID-19 rules after attending a concert in Abuja.

He simply wrote, “Police is my friend. Naira Marley & Police 5&6.”

Azeez Fashola (born 9 May 1994), known professionally as Naira Marley, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is known as the president of his controversial fan base, “Marlians”.

Naira Marley was born in Agege, Lagos State, Nigeria. At the age of 11, he moved to Peckham, South London, England. He started his education at Porlock Hall, before moving to Walworth School where he obtained his General Certificate of Secondary Education. Naira Marley went to Peckham Academy where he graduated with a distinction in business. He went further to study at Crossways College, now Christ the King Sixth Form College, where he completed his business law.

On 16 June 2018, a remix of Naira Marley’s “Issa Goal” was released and was sponsored by Coca-Cola, featuring, Olamide, Lil Kesh, Falz, Simi and Slimcase. Naira Marley sings in English, Pidgin and Yoruba, focusing solely on Afrobeats and hip-hop. His name “Naira Marley” was influenced by his admiration for the late Jamaican singer, Bob Marley, while his dreadlocks is a tribute to Bob Marley.
