We’ll Keep Taking Steps To Advance The Application Of Human Rights – FG

The Federal Government has come out to say that it’ll keep carrying out initiatives to end impunity for crimes against Nigerian citizens.

Justice Abubakar Malami recently revealed this in his keynote address delivered on the occasion of the 2021 celebration of international day to end impunity for crimes against journalists in Nigeria.

According to him, the Global Impunity Index spotlights report indicates that Nigeria is the only country to get off the index of nations with impunity for crimes against journalists, and this is another positive development in the human rights record of the regime of the President Buhari.

He added that FG has will continue taking steps to advance the rule of law and application of human rights.

His words, “The Federal Government of Nigeria has taken steps in advancing the rule of law, application of human rights, enhancing the freedom of information and by implication freedom of the press as well as the administration of criminal justice.”

“In addition to the implementation of the Freedom of Information Act, prominent among recent legislations by the present administration included Public Interest Disclosure and Witness Protection Bill (2017), Whistleblower Protection Policy, Open Government Partnership and the vigorous fight against corruption.”
